Students of the fourth and fifth grade classes of Pittsburgh Dilworth Elementary, 6200 Stanton Avenue, as well as other artists and members of the greater community, participated in a group knitting project. After school there were Knit-A-Thons. A number of students have become interested in the craft of knitting and many have begun to make small squares. These have been sewn together to make a collaborative blanket. This blanket will be sold to raise money for the ONE campaign, a non-profit organization which aims to increase United States government funding for and effectiveness of international aid programs. ONE is a global advocacy and campaigning organization backed by more than 2 million people from around the world dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. (http://www.one.org) Knitivism (knitting as a form of activism) is a progressive new way to raise awareness and provoke change, an activity in which many artists and groups are participating in all over the world. Please e-mail your offers, bids, and any other thoughts on the blanket to alb5100@psu.edu.

The piece will be sent to the recipient with the highest offer on June 10th. I will keep you updated on the bids until then.
Thank you for your interest and participation, Miss Beck Dilworth Art Pre-service Teacher
